How Linka handles information.
Website visits
This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure visits, page views, traffic sources and loading performance. It does not use cookies or browser storage. Cloudflare receives the IP address needed to connect and states that it discards it at the nearest data centre rather than storing it in Web Analytics databases. Reports are aggregated and may be sampled; visits are not unique people.
Language preference
When you choose a language in the site selector, Linka stores the functional sq_locale cookie on the .signallq.com domain for up to one year. It stores only your language preference so the matching version can open on a later visit; it is not used for advertising, profiling or analytics. Cloudflare Web Analytics remains cookie-free.
Measurements and network data
To run a test, Linka exchanges data with measurement servers. A result can include speed, latency, jitter, packet loss, date and time, connection type, server identifier and available technical network information. Your IP address is naturally visible to the server serving a test, as it is with any internet connection.
Wi-Fi and location permissions
With your permission, Linka can read the current Wi-Fi network name and technical information available from the connection or router to display it and support diagnosis. iPhone requires location permission to reveal the Wi-Fi name; Linka does not use that permission to build a location history.
History, iCloud and Assist
Measurements stay on your device. When synchronization is available and you use iCloud, history may be mirrored in your private iCloud database for your own Apple devices. You can delete measurements in the app. When you use Assist, Linka sends the context needed to answer your question, such as results, connection type and available Wi-Fi data. Local addresses and router administration URLs are not sent.
My Network internal beta
When available in the internal beta, My Network lets you register equipment and keep its identifier, declared role, ownership, location and technical sheets on the device. This inventory is not synchronized by Linka with iCloud. Label reading happens on the device: Linka does not save or send the photo or the recognized raw text. An original image chosen from your photo library remains under your control, and you can edit or delete equipment in the app.
Optional technical-sheet research
After you confirm a search, only the brand, model, hardware revision and region that you confirmed are sent to Linka’s dedicated Cloudflare service. When enabled, that service uses OpenAI and web research to consult public sources. Photos, raw label text, passwords, serial numbers, MAC addresses, room names, ownership, plan details and measurements are excluded. The service receives the IP address required for the connection. Manual entry and cancelling remain available, and an unavailable service does not prevent saving equipment.
Research protection and retention
To limit abuse, the service converts the IP address into a server-keyed cryptographic code (HMAC) and stores that code with query times; it does not keep the original IP for this control or send the code to OpenAI. The rate-limit window is 60 seconds, and expired control records are removed on the next control write, which may be later than one minute. Technical sheets and the searched technical identifier can be cached for up to 24 hours; expired cache records are removed on a later cache update. The OpenAI request uses store=false, which asks not to retain the response for later retrieval. It does not mean zero provider retention: Cloudflare and OpenAI security and processing rules still apply. This beta description does not mean that research is active in every app version.
Advertising and purchases
The Free version may show Google AdMob native ads on the home screen and, when results exist, in History. Ads are not shown while a measurement is running, on the result screen or on an error screen. Linka requests non-personalized ads. Subscriptions, billing and restoring purchases are processed by Apple; Linka does not sell measurement data for behavioural advertising.
Advertising choices and categories
When an ad is requested, Google may process technical identifiers, usage information and diagnostic information to provide, protect, measure and cap ad frequency, subject to Google settings and policies. Linka requests non-personalized ads (npa=1). From version 1.1.5, build 55, Linka does not request App Tracking Transparency permission; earlier versions may show that request. Non-personalized ads do not eliminate processing needed to serve, secure and measure an ad. Where applicable, Google’s privacy message lets you choose preferences, and Linka Settings provides a way to review them when Google requires it. You can also change device privacy choices in iPhone or iPad Settings.
Your choices and contact
You can delete local measurements in the app or remove the app to remove local data. Where applicable, Google privacy choices can be reviewed in Linka Settings. For privacy questions, contact suporte@linka.app.
